LiBackpack FAQ
A: Generally, 1 minutes after powering on the LiBackpack system, a WIFI connection named ‘LiBackpack’ can be found. If not, try to refresh your phone or tablet. If problem is not resolved after 5 minutes, please power off the system and reboot the computer, and search for WIFI connection again.
A: Please make sure: 1. laser scanner is powered on; 2. Cable is plugged in completely if wired Ethernet connection mode is used; 3. The light on Ethernet port is flashing. If not, it’s likely that the Ethernet cable is not plugged in completely, or the port is not functioning correctly.
A: Please reboot the system. If problem remains, please contact GreenValley International.
A: LiBackpack system performs introspection during data collection, which may change the camera status on UI to OFF. This does not affect camera data collection because the sensor is still collecting data.
- Note: before Start, ensure the Camera status is idle. Before Stop, ensure the Camera status is recording.
A: The recommended time duration for one collection project is 30 minutes. Long data collection results in large data size, which slows down data copying and processing speed.
A: Please check: 1. If there are more than 1 device connected to LiBackapck WIFI. Multiple connections will slow down data transfer. 2. If the device is far from the LiBackpack system. Please make sure the device is close to the system. 3. Check the Queue Size on upper left. If queue is larger than 50, that means the data is data processed and the lag is normal.
A: Please check if battery voltage is low. If yes, please charge the battery. It is recommended to charge or change battery when battery voltage is lower than 30%. Over discharge can cause battery damage.
A: It is recommended to use the standard tablet in the package for data collection. If other devices are used, please following this instruction:
- If it is iPad or iPhone device, please refer to Apple’s instruction of resetting network settings, or follow these steps:
- If it is Android device, please follow these steps to reset and reconnect LiBackapck WIFI:
A: Likely due to WIFI interference. This does not affect data collection. Check WIFI connection. Reboot WIFI on mobile device if problem remains, and reconnect to LiBackpack WIFI.
A: Please make sure: 1. USB flash drive is NTFS format; 2. Do not unplug the drive until the process bar reaches 100% and notice to unplug drive shows up.
A: This is likely due to large data size. Please wait until process completes to unplug the drive, to avoid data loss and/or drive damage.
A: We recommend using LiDAR360, a comprehensive point cloud post-processing suite developed by GreenValley International. LiDAR360 provides comprehensive toolsets for point cloud visualization, processing, analysis, and more.
A: Yes, LiBackpack point cloud processing will adjust the tilt angle of the scanner by analyzing IMU data. The angle accuracy is 1-3°.
A: This is caused by direct sunshine. Consider scanning in a day with less strong sunshine, or use the ‘Remove Outliers’ tool in LiDAR360 to remove these noises.
A: LiBackpack does real-time processing and loop-closing optimization. However, because of environmental factors, closing loops might not be detected automatically. Optionally, please send the .bag file and provide a data introduction to GreenValley International for further analysis and processing.
A:
- Sphere tunnels or buildings without rich 3D structure, which affects key points matching.
- Reflective surface, such as glasses, which may cause matching errors.
- Narrow scanning environment such as small rooms, narrow hallways, stairways, etc., which may cause matching errors. The limited FOV of VLP-16 results in data lacking on the top and bottom of the scanned environment, which affects matching accuracy.
A: It is recommended to use specialized Target Spheres as control points to merge multiple point cloud datasets or to georeference point cloud. LiDAR360 provides the Rectify tool to achieve this goal.
A: LiBackpack with 1 fully charged battery can operate for 2 hours.
A: -10°-60°C, IP67. Avoid rainy days for operation.
A: Class-1 Eye Safe.
A: All data collected by LiBackapck is stored locally on the device. No data will be uploaded to the internet. Data can be exported through USB, or deleted on UI.
A: Data processing by LiBackpack is almost in real time. However, data processing may slow down in these situations: complicated scanning environment, large data size, large amount of closing loops. In these cases, data processing can take 3-5 minutes after data collection.
A: Unplug the system, and plug in again after powering on the system.
A: You can hot swap the drive if copying data is not in progress. DO NOT unplug the drive is copying data is in progress. Wait until the process completes and a notice to unplug the drive displays.
A: Please make sure the USB flash drive is in NTFS format. FAT32 format does not support file larger than 4GB.
A: The data is incomplete or broken, likely due to disconnection of flash drive before the data copying process completes. Please copy the data again.
A: Please make sure the laser scanner of LiBackpack C50 is powered off. Computer will not find camera if laser scanner is on.
